I can't believe we are in the last stages of preparing for the arrival of our little one. Only 5 more weeks until the due date, so we have to be ready all the time. Something that makes me laugh and I think is really cute is that everytime I call Johns work, his heart skips a little beat and he asks if I am having contractions and going into labor. It is safe to say he is excited too!!
We have attended our prenatal classes, washed all the baby gear and clothes, almost finished the nursery, bought ALMOST all the necessities, and soaked in the fact that it is almost here!! We have been working on several do it ourself projects to save money and keep things unique, and there are only a couple more...but here is what we have finished:

John and my Dad spent hours on this beautiful changing table that is absolutely PERFECT. They made it all from scratch...what handy guys I have. An awesome feature is the top changing station part comes off so it can be used as a regular dresser as well.This old high chair was mine and my siblings when we were little. Greatest thing is my parents have kept all of our old stuff so we got a crib, dresser, rocking chair, and high chair for FREE!! All they needed was a fresh coat of paint and a little TLC. I painted and recovered this chair and I really like the way it turned out!

I had some left over fabric from the bedding my mother in law made for us (pictures of that later) so I decided to make a car seat cover for our little guy!

We had this lamp in one of our closets from our old apartment and it was just wrapped up in plastic doing NOTHING...so I mod podged some fabric to match the bedding and some scrapbook owls onto it. It now hangs above his crib.

Since I can't make headbands for our little man, I have been crocheting beanies for him. Good thing he is going to be a winter baby!

Last but not least...the diaper bag. I decided to make my own bag 1. because my friend Cole had a pattern that I loved and 2. I think diaper bags are boring. I won't lie...first time around with this bag was sooooo hard. I did it all by myself and the instructions were so so bad. Lets just say there was a lot of taking seams out (with the help from John)...but it is finished and I LOVE IT!

Baby Belly!

My sis, the photographer, took some maternity pics for us this weekend! Thanks Brit. As for the pregnancy, I am into the third trimester week 31!! I am loving to feel his little body move around more and more (and yes it does hurt sometimes when he gets really excited)! John and I have fun watching him shift from one side to another...and love feel his little jolts of movement. What an amazing creation our bodies are to be able to be an incubator to another little human. Heavenly Father knew what he was doing. It is still difficult to put my thoughts around the reality of having our own little guy running around soon...I am sure excited (and nervous)!

Time to blog!

For it being summer, we have been super busy. Normally summer dance slows down a bit so I get a little break, but it seems like I have stayed just as busy as a regular season. John also took summer school this year so he didn't get much of a break either. We also are in preparation of our little guy, so we have been working on his room every chance we get.

Well this week I am left alone because John is on a several hundred mile biking trip with "the guys" in the family. This is our 1st time every being away from eachother since we were married 2 1/2 years ago. It is very hard not being together, but he is having a lot of fun and I am grateful he was able to go. This also explains why I have found time to blog today. I taught for an hour this morning, took the dog on a walk, cleaned a bit and thought....I should update my blog. Here are a few of the latest: We finally found time to do another hike this summer and it was finally "cool" enough outside to go. We went up to the U and looked for the "Living Room" and never found it, but it was beautiful non the less. The picture of John and Sunni is one of my favorites...doesn't he look super handsome. And me rockin out 25 weeks of pregnancy!The babies room is coming along. This past weekend we painted and we had help from my dad and grandpa to put up the wood. So we have the major stuff done...yay!!! Now one of the last things is we are having our friend Elise Bowen paint some aspen trees on the long wall behind the crib...they won't be green, but they will look something like this. We are really excited to see how it all comes together...after pics will be later.Also this last weekend I had my first baby shower. My studio in Salt Lake put it together and tons of my students and parents came. I was a lot of fun!!! And I loved all the cute stuff we got. Things like this (and him kick boxing in my belly) just set it more into reality how soon we will be able to snuggle our little man.

IT"S A BOY!!! And other summer tales.

We couldn't be more excited about welcoming our little man into the world!! Last week we went to the doctor for the formal ultrasound and found out the gender of our little baby. Not super surprising as most of our family and friends had predicted that we would be having a little boy. John and I didn't dare guess before going into the ultrasound...we just wanted a healthy little baby, but were so excited to hear the news. What an emotional moment for the two of us, and what a way to make the reality even more real. WE LOVED IT!! At the ultrasound we also found out that I am actually farther along than we thought, not by much, just a week. So my doctor said in cases like that, unless it is a significant difference (a 2 week difference), the due date will stay the same. Now maybe I will deliver closer to my due date as 1st babies are "usually" late. But who knows, I just think its funny how everyone has THEIR opinion of how everything is during a pregnancy. I am definitely here to say that not 2 pregnancies are the same! I feel great though...still teaching dance full time (although I have had a 2 week break, and it has been GLORIOUS!!) and we just got back from a 15 mile backpacking trip with my family. I still have morning sickness just in the evenings and am still on medication for it. One day I felt really really good and didn't take my medicine, I regreted it the next morning when I barely made it to the toilet. Back to no pregnancies being the same, everyone kept telling me... "my sickness went away at this time, so will yours". Lets just say I'm not holding my breathe either way. My doc said if it hasn't gone away by now, I MAY have to deal with it the rest of the 9 months. I am just so excited and grateful that I get to be a mommy!

The tech tried to get a profile picture of baby, but he was being a stinker by putting his hands over his face and rolling all over the place...so here is a shot as if he is looking right at us:)Of course I couldn't stand not doing anything for the babies room, so here is my 1st project. Mod Podge owls on pieces of canvas frames to hang on the wall. I was proud of myself...i did it all from scratch!! Sorry and when I uploaded the pic, it rotated and won't go back to the normal direction. So our 4th of July weekend we went to Idaho. Our trip started of with beginnning to refinish the baby furniture my parents handed down to us. We are crackle painting the dresser and crib with green and white (pic below) and the gliding rocker will just be solid green with yellow or orange cushions!We then took a painting break to play some croquet in my parents yard with my dads new set...lets just say I was all alone the whole time cause I am really bad.We then headed off to Palisades Creek for our 2 day backpacking trip. It was 5 miles ish to the lower lake where we set up camp, and then another 2.5 miles to upper lake. We did both and it was so BEAUTIFUL!! Sunni was in puppy heaven! She did so well staying on the trail the whole time, she is our little hiking pup. Best part is on the way back down she was so tired, everytime we stopped for water, she would lay down and fall asleep...surprising for our little energizer bunny! Poor thing was wiped out, but she loved it.Of course when we got to the Upper Lake the second day, John wanted to teach Sunni to swim...so he threw her into the glacier water, and she learned very quick:) The trip was a success! Here is everyone at the upper lake!2weeks ago, Johns best friend Brandon got married in St. George so we decided to make a trip out of it. CONGRATS BRANLAN!!!We took the long way home and stopped at Cedar Breaks. I've always wanted to, and it was way worth it!We also were able to go to the Tuachan show of TARZAN. My cousin Mic (that I have worked with alot) did the choreography for the show so he got us tickets so we could see his work while we were down there. What an awesome show and ampitheater. It was a lot of fun!

Life is good!

I thought I would give a quick little update on things lately.

John finished his spring semester of school with fantastic grades. He is such a hard worker and am so grateful he is in my life!! He only had a week break between semesters before he started his summer term, and it wasn't much of a break. He rebuilt his garage sale bike and we painted our house within that week!! And I do have to say both look spectacular. The paint isn't anything super fancy...but it now gives our home some dimension!!

Now Johns bike is worth much more than he paid!!

As for me, I am finishing up competition season and have recitals on June 11th and 12th. Summer dance slows down so I will be able to prepare a little better for the baby. I am on my 13th week of pregnancy, and very ready for my second trimester. I have had morning sickness pretty bad, and zophran has been my friend the last couple months:) Its given me more enjoyment for the anticipation of the baby. I really am excited for 2nd trimester because rumor has it the sickness will go away and the fatique as well...and I'm ok with saying goodbye to those two things! I am really excited to have my belly grow and to be able to feel the baby move, i think that will be so cool. I am most excited to find out what we are having so I can finally start painting the nursery and buying things for the baby!! I have been dying wanting to buy stuff, and we only have bought 1 thing....impressive if you know me. I am so grateful and excited to be a part of bringing one of Heavenly Fathers children to this earth...its a pretty amazing blessing and hope I can rise to the calling. And I just have to say I couldn't feel more ready having the most amazing man by my side!! He is going to be such a good daddy! For mothers day he wrote me a card from our little baby in my belly...It said, in scribbly writing..."mommy i am happy Heavenly Father picked me to be yours. Love Baby". I love my life a whole whole lot!!

Before the baby comes...

We decided we wanted family pics during every stage of our lives...so Brit tooks some for us before my belly gets much bigger!! We are so so so excited for our little baby that is on the way...our family will be growing soon!

Florida!!!

Well we just got home from our trip to Florida!! The weather was perfect and we were so sad to hear it was snowing at home the whole time...but good thing we brought home the sunshine with us!! We stayed at the All-Star Disney Movies Resort...it was fab! Best was that we had extended hours in all the parks, so we had no lines to wait in...it was AWESOME!!

My dancers performed at the Downtown Disney main stage on Saturday night the day before Easter at 9:00p.m. Basically a really busy time at Downtown Disney, we were honored to perform at that time. Well after the FANTASTIC performance, the director told us that it was the best performance she has seen on that stage in the 3 years she has worked there. She also said it was the biggest crowd she has ever seen that stayed and watched the whole thing. We were very proud!After that we headed to the coast where we played on the beach, went kayaking and played with manatees (pictures of that are on our underwater camera), and watched the last of 3 shuttle launches! Overall a fantastic trip. I had to post this picture. On Easter we went to dinner at the Lobster Shanty and they had a dock out the back. When we walked out this is what we found in the water...YUCK!!!
