Brixon Lee Southwick

I am the most blessed mama in the whole wide world. Our little Brixon Lee Southwick was born November 19th at 9:53 pm at the Lds Hospital. He was 7lbs 13 oz and 21 inches long.

My water broke at home as I was getting out of bed at 8:20 am and I called John who was at work to come get me..."we are having a baby!!!" John works downtown by the hospital I was delivering at so I just had to wait for him as our bags were already packed and in the car. So I straightened up the house and played with Sunni for a bit until he got home. We quickly rushed to the hospital and made it in record time. John went from downtown, to our house at 7200 south, and back to the avenues in 40 min.

We arrived at the hospital at 9:00 am and because my water had broke, they set me up in my labor and delivery room right away. When I was checked I still was only dialated to a 3, so we knew it would probably be a long day. Long story short they had to put me on some pitocin to help me dialate faster, but I still stayed at a 5 for several several hours (as they could not turn up the pitocin too high because my contractions were too close together already and that would put stress on the baby).

My doctor checked me at about 8:30 and I was still a 5...but came in about a half hour later with a feeling he should check me again. He laughed as he was checking me and I thought, "oh crap, still a 5". Nope, he said "k...lets push!!" Here we go...I pushed for about 45 min and then our little Brixon was here!!!

What an incredible feeling to have your little baby introduced to you for the first time, and him knowing you are his mommy instantly!! I love him so much and am so blessed to be going through this journey with the most amazing man in the universe!!
